ASTM International Honors Metri Zughbi with Materials Award

Zughbi was recognized for his record in the field of metallurgical engineering and related aspects of materials testing.

ASTM’s nondestructive testing committee (E07) has given its Noah A. Kahn Memorial Award to Metri Zughbi, part of the most recent graduating class of Lehigh University.

The Kahn Memorial Award was established in 1963 by the committee to honor the memory of Noah A. Kahn who was an outstanding committee member and head metallurgist of the material laboratory, New York Naval Shipyard, for many years. Zughbi was recognized for his record in the field of metallurgical engineering and related aspects of materials testing.

An ASTM International member since 2022, Zughbi is also part of Material Advantage, a program including membership in The Minerals, Metals, and Materials Society (TMS), the American Ceramic Society (ACS), ASM International, and the Association for Iron & Steel Technology (AIST).

Zughbi’s career concentration is microscopy/characterization, technical ceramics, high entropy alloys, and nanotechnology. In 2025, he earned his bachelor’s degree in materials science and engineering from Lehigh University and is pursuing a doctoral degree in the same field from Lehigh starting in the fall.
